During this event, we'll craft heartfelt, colorful messages to lift the spirits of young patients and remind them they are not alone. Whether through a cheerful drawing, an encouraging note, or a simple "thinking of you," every card will deliver love, strength, and joy when it's needed most. The event will feature a presentation by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) on relaxation techniques, offering practical tips to reduce stress. Join the Department of English and Andrew Newman and Neisha Terry Young! 2025 marks the centennial of the publication of The Great Gatsby. In this workshop, join Andrew Newman and Neisha Terry Young as we examine research on how and why teachers engage with this text in their classrooms. We will then explore various critical approaches to teaching the text, keeping in mind the multiple intersectional identities of our students. Finally, we will use our exploration as a lens to examine how to apply critical pedagogies to other canonical texts.
