Research Interests

Professor Erkan Öterkuş' research mainly focuses on the structural analysis of a wide range of marine and aerospace structures, including  offshore wind turbines, tidal turbines, wave energy converters, floating solar systems, ship structures, and composite structures. He utilizes some of the state-of-the-art techniques, including peridynamics and the Inverse Finite Element Method (iFEM). He is the co-author of numerous publications, including the first book on peridynamics, as well as journal and coference papers. His recent research areas include Additive Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Corrosion Damage, Desalination, Digital Twin & Structural Health Monitoring, Energy Storage, Fluid-Structure Interactions, Fracture in Lithium-Ion Batteries and Fuel Cells, Hydrogen Energy, Ice-Structure Interactions, Isogeometric Analysis, Mechanics of Electronic Packages, and Robotic Welding.
