RESEARCH FOCUS
Our research integrates materials science and engineering with disease pathology to
design drug delivery systems that target diseased tissue, aiming to enhance therapeutic
efficacy while minimizing side effects. We are particularly focused on modulating
gut inflammation and investigating how it influences inflammation in other organs,
such as the joints, skin, and nervous system, through targeted delivery strategies
that may also inform therapeutic and regenerative medicine approaches.
Our work bridges fundamental and translational research, from in vitro material screening
to in vivo validation and analysis using patient-derived samples. With expertise in
drug delivery, tissue repair, and immune modulation, we develop strategies to localize
therapeutics to disease sites, enhance local bioactivity, and reshape the microenvironment
to support healing. The insights gained aim to drive innovation across a range of
inflammatory conditions and regenerative applications.
