Reporting Discrimination: Information for Employees of Affiliated Organizations

This page contains information regarding reporting policies and procedures for employees of organizations affiliated with Stony Brook University and or Stony Brook Medicine.   If any employee of any affiliated organization has a concern about an incident of discrimination involving a student of Stony Brook University, or a Stony Brook University, Stony Brook University Hospital or Long Island State Veterans Home employee, either as a respondent or a target of discriminatory behavior, including sexual misconduct, or about discriminatory conduct at any Stony Brook University affiliated facility, that conduct should be reported to the Office of Equity and Access, Stony Brook University.   

StaffCo Employees (PEO/Professional Employment Organization)

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, and other Stony Brook CPMP (Clinical Practice Management Plan) Employees

StaffCo and SUNY have entered into a PEO (Professional Employer Organization) agreement under which StaffCo is the employer for employees atStony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital,  Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook CPMP Employees at other facilities.  StaffCo is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hirings, promotions, disciplines, terminations, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work, as well as labor relations and collective bargaining.  Therefore Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, and other Stony Brook CPMP employees should report issues of employment related discrimination, including sexual misconduct to StaffCo.

Employees of StaffCo are StaffCo employees and therefore should report and pursue complaints related to their employment, including discrimination under StaffCo's policies and procedures. 

StaffCo employees at Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital and StaffCO CPMP employees should contact Maureen Roarty, Human Resources for more information or to file a complaint.

StaffCo employees at Stony Brook University-affiliated sites may also report discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to Stony Brook University as an external reporting resource if they do not feel comfortable reporting an incident to StaffCo or if they feel that the response to their complaint did not comply with StaffCo's responsibility under StaffCo's policies and procedures or state or federal law.

Stony Brook Administrative Services (SBAS) & Stony Brook Medicine Community Medical Group (SBMCMG)

SB Administrative Services, LLC (SBAS) and Stony Brook Community Medical, PC (SBMCMG) represent a rapidly growing network of community-based physicians that work with Stony Brook Medicine and smaller local hospitals in Suffolk County and beyond.  

SBAS and SBMCMB is the employer for employees at  SBMCMG locations.  SBAS and SBMCMG is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hirings, promotions, disciplines, terminations, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work.  Therefore employees at SBMCMG locations should report issues of employment related discrimination, including sexual misconduct to SBMC.

SBAS and SBMCMG employees should report and pursue complaints related to their employment, including discrimination under SBMCMG's policies and procedures.

Stony Brook Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC

Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC (Meeting House Lane) is a professional corporation affiliated with Stony Brook Southampton Hospital which provides medical services to the broader community.  Meeting House Lane’s medical services are provided both at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and at physician practice locations within the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Service area.   

Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC is the employer for employees at Meeting House Lane locations.  SBMCMG is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hirings, promotions, disciplines, terminations, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work.  Therefore employees at Meeting House Lane locations should report issues of employment related discrimination, including sexual misconduct to Meeting House Lane Medical Practice, PC.

ASA (Auxiliary Services Association) Employees

The Auxiliary Services Association of Stony Brook University provides many services that contribute to the quality of campus life in a flexible, efficient, and responsive manner to support the mission of the Stony Brook campus.  The services include SBU Eats (Main Campus Dining), Hospital Dining, Meal Plans, Wolfie Wallet, Books & Apparel, Student Health Insurance, and Locker Rentals & Renewals.  

ASA is the employer for these employees.  ASA is responsible for all aspects of employment, including human resource services, hiring, promotions, disciplines, terminations, the day-to-day direction and supervision of work, as well as labor relations and collective bargaining.  Therefore, ASA employees should report issues of employment-related discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to ASA.

Employees of ASA are ASA employees and therefore should report and pursue complaints related to their employment, including discrimination under ASA's policies and procedures. 

ASA employee's at Stony Brook University affiliated sites may also report discrimination, including sexual misconduct, to Stony Brook University as an external reporting resource if they do not feel comfortable reporting an incident to ASA or if they feel that the response to their complaint did not comply with StaffCo's responsibility under ADA's policies and procedures or state or federal law.
