Benny Goodman’s 1938
Carnegie Hall Concert
opened the door for jazz to
be appreciated as a true
American art form.
Revisiting this famous
concert - with original
charts - Ken Peplowski and
The Kingdom of Swing Big
Band (which features a
number of Benny Goodman
Orchestra alumni as well as
a female singer) will perform such hits as
"One O’Clock Jump", "Stompin’ at the
Savoy", "Don’t Be That Way", and the
climactic finale - "Sing, Sing, Sing."
Benny Goodman himself chose Ken
Peplowski, then just 25 years old, for his
last touring orchestra in 1984. Called
"Goodman Straight up with a Twist of
Lightning" by The New York Times, prolific
recording artist and clarinet virtuoso
Peplowski is universally regarded as a
charismatic entertainer who has been
delighting audiences for over thirty years
with his warmth, wit and humor. A perfect
night in Staller's Recital Hall is just waiting
for you.
