“Certainly any chance to hear Ahmad Jamal should be savored like a vintage port,” notes one critic. Ahmad Jamal is a jazz piano legend with a long career. After doing the nightclub circuit for years, he now plays theaters and concert halls almost exclusively. The hallmarks of Mr. Jamal’s style are rhythmic innovations and colorful harmonies. He incorporates a unique sense of space in his music, and his concepts are exciting without being loud. Augmented by a selection of unusual standards (“Poinciana”) and his own compositions, Mr. Jamal has influenced many, including Miles Davis, who said, back in the 1950’s, “I live until Jamal makes another record.” Enjoy a great evening of jazz with a master who has won many accolades, including an American Jazz Masters fellowship award and being named a Duke Elllington Fellow at Yale University.
