The Chinese Acrobatic Troupe is made up of over 40 young performers who bring the Chinese art of acrobatics to audiences around the world. They are returning to Staller Center after a breathtaking performance during our 2001-2002 season.
Since the Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - 24 A.D.), dramatic folk arts and variety shows have blended with the deepest roots of Chinese civilization. The skillful performers often use objects of daily life, such as chairs, tables, poles, ladders, bowls, plates, bottles, and jars as stage properties. Their perfect movements and flexible showmanship mix with show-biz savvy: synthesized music, flamboyant costumes, magic and comedy. The masters of the Fu Hsing Academy, the forerunner of the present troupe, have preserved the systematic teaching methods of ancient China to cultivate outstanding performers of folk dramatic arts. Experience this traditional art form and see how it has been passed on to the next generation.
