What is Barrage? It's a troupe of violin playing twenty-year-olds in a theatrical music performance that elevates the versatile violin to new and magical heights. The twelve-piece Canadian ensemble, with seven violinists joined by percussion, bass, guitar and keyboard, features a wide range of musical influences. Music Director Dean Marshall's original score puts a contemporary spin on Blues, Calypso, Swing, Country, Jazz, Klezmer, Classical and Pop.With rock-show lighting and an exuberant display of spoon-clacking, Barrage’s violins take on different moods, from poetic nuance to rough-and-ready fiddle. The musicians display a funky fashion sense and unlimited energy, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. Barrage:The World on Stage, was a PBS concert special, a huge hit at Epcot and Disney World, and in its tours of Europe, the U.S. and Canada. Like the heart-pounding productions of Riverdance, Stomp and Cirque du Soleil that defy traditional theatrical description, Barrage is an experience that must be seen and heard.
