Metropolitan Opera star, mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade will join the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in a “sachertorte” of an event to celebrate Staller Center’s fifth annual Gala. It will be difficult to keep from dancing in the aisles to the rhapsodies, polkas, Hungarian dances and favorite Strauss waltzes, including of course, The Blue Danube, that you will hear on March 8th. The Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, with Maestro Zsolt Hamar, Permanent Conductor, will be the perfect hosts for their national musical heritage. With her impressive versatility Miss von Stade has effortlessly traversed an ever-broadening spectrum of musical styles from Haydn and Mozart to the popular songs of Broadway’s greatest musicals.
